Howard Given has been in the investment business since 1984. He began his investment career with Weston Capital Management in Los Angeles, California, where he was trained in investment analysis and portfolio management. In January 1989, Mr. Given joined LACLA Investment Advisers in Los Angeles, California where he was an analyst and portfolio manager. In 1992, Mr. Given joined Kidder Peabody and Co. in Carmel, California where he worked as and Investment Executive. In 1994, Mr. Given founded Given Investment Management in Carmel, California, an independent investment advisory firm. In November, 2003 he co-founded Given & Dini Investment Management in Carmel California with Bruce Dini. Upon Mr Dini’s departure from Given & Dini Investment Management at the end of 2006, Mr. Given changed the name of his firm to Given Capital Management, LLC. In 2019, Mr. Given merged his firm with Cypress Path Capital, LLC. Given Capital Management, LLC was the surviving entity and changed its name to Cypress Path Capital, LLC.
Prior to his career in the investment business, Mr. Given worked in the computer software industry for eight years. In 1980 he founded Given Systems, Inc., an investment management software company which he sold in 1983 to Monchik-Weber, Inc. (a publicly owned software and consulting company).
Mr. Given earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, where he graduated with honors in the fields of economics and international relations. He earned his Masters in Business Administration from U.C.L.A. where he concentrated study in finance and marketing.
Mr Given served on the board of the Carmel Unified School District for approximately ten years, the board of the Carmel Youth Center, is a past president of Carmel Youth Baseball, and is a past president and founder of Carmel Community Girls Softball.
